Officer Safety issues hindsight:: video

Unbelievable: Used as a training example, what Officer Safety issues do you see?

·         Look at the size of the “teens” compared to the officers.

·          Look at the number of subjects compared to the number of officers.

·         Look at the environmental conditions (sand = poor footing)

·         Look at how close the main suspect’s hand gets to the male officer’s gun.

·         Look at the suspect in the red hoodie and how close he gets to the officers from POA-rear position.

That situation was on the cusp of “mob mentality” and could deteriorated very quickly. Positioning and  reactionary-gap should always be kept in mind. Remember the three “Cs”: Contain-Control-Communicate
