Understanding the nature of evil

It is becoming more and more critical to move past the passive defense mechanism of “denial” and to understand that some people are just bad. If you are familiar with Aesop’s parable of the “Scorpion and the Frog” you can see how applicable it is to our modern society. The true nature of person is always there, just under the surface. No matter how skillful or practiced they are at masking it, it is always just a moment from showing itself. When you understand the nature of a beast, you understand what it is capable of:
“There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of evil men.”- Edmund Burke
Denial does nothing but make you less prepared for the ugly realities of life. Truth is, some people simply cannot be reasoned with, talked down, or persuaded to good. Prayers with the families impacted by the tragedy at Arapahoe HS today.
